2020 FIRST LEGO League Grants

Thank you for your interest in starting a new FIRST LEGO League Discover, Explore or Challenge team  and/or introducing FIRST to your students in Ontario with class packs or school packs. to help offset costs for new teams/classes, a limited number of grants are available for the 2021-21 Season.  Review the grant details for each program below.

  • Please submit your application as grants are limited.
  • Once approved, you will notified and a cheque will be made payable to the school/company/organization on your application and mailed the to address provided.
  • Grant payments cannot be made payable to an individual.
CLASS PACKS 

Amount of Grant:
New Discover Class Pack: $1100.00 CAD
Returning Discover Class Pack: $550 CAD
A class pack serves up to 30 students.

Criteria:

  • A limited number of Ontario grants are available on a first come first serve basis to first time class pack registrations.
  • Grant recipients need to agree to run the program for more than one season.  
  • This grant cannot be combined with the LEGO Foundation grant.

  • Step 3 – After you have received a official account number from FIRST for your Class Pack, complete this application form

TEAM GRANTS

Amount of Grant: $200.00 CAD for new and returning teams
FIRST LEGO League Explore Teams can be a maximum of 6 students.

Criteria:

  • A limited number of Ontario grants are available on a first come first serve basis to teams.
  • Grants are for the creation of upto 5 new single FIRST LEGO League Explore teams per school/organization.
  • If your  school/company/organization has had grant funding for fewer than five teams in the previous seasons you may apply for grants to start more teams, up to a total of 5. Additional teams are welcome but do not qualify for this grant. Teams must be part of a school, recognized company or community group such as homeschool group, library, club, etc.
  • Teams must commit to the program for a minimum of three years and participate in an official Ontario Festival.
  • Class/school packs are not eligible for this grant.
  • This grant cannot be combined with the LEGO Foundation grant.

TEAM GRANTS

There are several grants available for which teams can apply. Teams will only be approved for one grant but organizations or schools with multiple teams can apply for up to two grants. Please note that once you apply for any of the grants below, FIRST Canada will get back to you on the approvals. FIRST LEGO League Challenge Teams can have a maximum of 10 students.

Amount of Grant: $750.00-$1,000.00 CAD.

  • First Year Team Grants ($750) 
  • Returning Year Team Grants ($750) 
  • Qualcomm New Team Grant ($1000) 
  • STEAM – FLL Girl Team Grant Application ($1000)

Criteria:

  • A limited number of Ontario grants are available on a first come, first served basis to new and returning teams.
  • Eligibility for Qualcomm grants apply to any underserved, remote, all-girls and First Nations FIRST LEGO League Challenge Teams.
  • Eligibility for the FIRST LEGO League STEAM Programs for Youth grant applies to any team consisting of all girls from a public school in Toronto or York Region.
