The Girls in STEM Executive Advisory Council (GIS EAC), an initiative of FIRST Robotics Canada, is proud to present the Dads for Daughters in STEM campaign.
The role of a father on a daughter’s confidence level and openness to pursue a STEM career, has shown to dramatically impact her mindset and choices. It’s critical for both men and women to realize inherent biases and stereotypes that impact females pursuing and staying in STEM initiatives and careers.
Recognizing that a more widespread awareness is needed, the Girls in STEM Executive Advisory Council has created the Dads for Daughters in STEM campaign. The roll-out consists of a video promotion, along with documentation and materials to be used at corporate presentations and general outreach initiatives.
Lakeside Process Controls, a gold sponsor of FIRST Robotics Canada, is excited to host the unveiling of the Dads for Daughters in STEM presentation in a lunch-in-learn format to an audience of approximately 85 employees including corporate executives and company stakeholders.
The event is organized by Natalie Wood, Girls in STEM Executive Advisory Council member and Professional Engineer at Lakeside Process Controls. Guest speakers and presenters include Girls in STEM Executive Advisory Council member and Dean of the Faculty of Science at Ryerson University Dr. Imogen Coe, and Chair of the Board of Directors at FIRST Robotics Canada Dorothy Byers.
