MakeShift mentors and students have been working hard for the last couple of months to support our health care workers by providing face shields, ear-savers and hand therapy barriers. So far, over 550 of our colourful face shield assemblies are in use at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton. We are now fulfilling requests at long term care facilities, chiropractors, dentists

In addition to recognizing the team’s Dean’s List and Chairman’s award wins; an article published by the North Bay Nugget also mentioned the great work that Team 1305 has been doing to help others during these difficult times. Team members have been making masks and headbands for front line workers and have also been working with a local emergency doctor
Another week of 3D printing by the W.A.F.F.L.E.S. ! This week we did some more N95 mask shells in waffle yellow to go out to local healthcare workers. This week’s count makes it over 50 masks total, not to mention the 45 filters, 116 ear savers, and 121 visor headbands from previous weeks! #FIRSTFFC
Team 7480 gave thanks to all the healthcare and other essential staff working hard to protect their community by sending them some 3D printed visor bands made at their shop.
Team 4152 is a force for change! They’ve teamed up with medical students to design and make 2000 face shields to donate to organizations in their community to help reduce the spread of COVID-19!
Team 781, the Kinetic Knights, with support from their sponsors, purchased 60 tablets and donated them to four different senior homes in their community. The tablets will enable residents to communicate with their families via Facetime (Skype) while the homes are in lock-down due to COVID-19.
EnvironmentFIRST is an initiative created by team 772 to improve the environmental impact that FIRST leaves behind. Through this initiative, we are gathering and recycling old buttons to prevent them from cluttering landfills.
