FIRST Tech Challenge Ontario

FIRST Canada is thrilled to be adding another FIRST program to Ontario.  We are excited to be introducing FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) to Ontario in the January 2019-2020 season, with the inaugural event to take place in January 2020. During this event, up to 36 Ontario FTC teams will compete for a chance to represent province at the Detroit World championships.

The FIRST Tech Challenge event will be hosted by Durham College on January 12, 2020 together with our founding Gold Sponsor, StudicaThis will be a pilot year and will allow up to 36 teams from Ontario to compete with 2 moving on from the FTC Ontario Provincial championships to the FIRST world championships in Detroit.

This application process will be available starting on May 15 at 7PM and the link here will have a button that will go live at 7PM which you could use to apply for your team.  Please do NOT register directly with FIRST  HQ as this will not guarantee you a spot at the one Ontario event.  As registrations are received, they will be officially accepted and registered on a first come first serve basis for the first 20 applications.  10 team registrations will be held for teams in underserved areas of the province and 6 will be already existing Ontario teams. When a team is officially registered they will be informed and payment for registration and the kit of parts will be processed.

After the successful pilot in 2019-2020, there will be more qualifying tournament events in the 2020-2021 season hosted by FIRST Robotics Competition teams.  These qualifying tournaments will feed into the FTC Ontario Provincial championships.  In the fall 2019, there will be more details on how a team can apply to host an FTC qualifying event in 2020-2021.
